Environmental values describe the environmental, social and economic uses of waterways that communities agree are important. More>> |
The EPA has several projects underway to help improve waterways across South Australia in line with the National Water Quality Management Strategy (NWQMS). These projects will establish environmental values and define how different water bodies might be protected. These projects involve the EPA working with South Australian communities to protect and improve water quality in the following areas of the State:
On each of these projects, the EPA is working with regional Natural Resources Management Boards, other State agencies, local government, and the community to set environmental values and water quality objectives for South Australian waters according to the Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy 2003 and the National Water Quality Management Strategy (NWQMS). The projects for the Mount Lofty Ranges Watershed, Adelaide Coastal Waters and Port Waterways all involve the development of a Water Quality Improvement Plan (WQIP).
