The AirWatch program in South Australia seeks to engage school
communities in local air quality issues and work towards increased
understanding of, and willingness to adopt practices that support
clean air.
For the first time in 2008 AirWatch will be delivered using a
whole-school approach, encouraging schools to investigate air
quality issues in consideration of all aspects of the school -
in its operations, in the classroom, the physical surroundings
and in its relationships with the local community - with the aim
of improving the quality of air in and around the school and local
community - a positive outcome for everyone!
There are workbooks available which include information for both
primary and secondary school teachers and 'hands-on' activities
for students, supported by a kit with various materials to undertake
the activities.
Through collaborative and inquiry-based learning, students have
a real opportunity to use scientific and social monitoring techniques
in their local area to learn about air pollution, its causes and
be actively involved in its solutions.

can be involved email the AirWatch
