The Learning Centre provides a searchable database of resources for sustainability and environmental education. Authorised contributors can provide details of educational resources and store details of these resources in the database. Educational resources may include information kits, training courses or many other types of educational materials.
You may search the database with any combination of search words, author name and resource classifications (e.g. Environmental Topic, Educational Topic or Resource Type).
The search words you enter will be used to look for a match with words in the titles, descriptions and any 'keyword text' for resources that have been entered by contributors to the database.
If you enter an author name, then the search will look for an exact match between the text you enter and the author text entered by the contributor for the resource.
If you select one or more resource classifications, then the classifications will be used to refine the search. This probably means that the more classifications you select, the less resources you will find. Why is this? Well, if you select three classifications, the search will only return those resources that have been classified with ALL three classifications.
Here are some example searches:
| Example Search | Actions | Results |
| 1 | You type in search words separated by spaces. You do not type in the name of an author. You do not select any classifications. |
The Learning Centre displays a list of resources where there is an exact match between any search word and a word in the title or description or 'keyword text' for a resource. |
| 2 | You type in the name of an author to search
for a particular author. You do not type in any search words. You do not select any classifications. |
The Learning Centre displays a list of resources where there is an EXACT match between the text you entered and the author name stored in the database for that resource. |
| 3 | You select Environmental Topics from the
list of classifications and then select the subheading of Air Quality
to refine the search. You do not type in any search words. You do not type in the name of an author. |
The Learning Centre displays a list of resources that have been classified as 'Air Quality' resources by contributors. |
