The koala experience
Cleland Wildlife Park is famous for its koala experiences, and every day you can get up close to and even hold a koala.
Koalas are one of Australia's most iconic species, ranking alongside the kangaroo and emu as the most recognisable Australian animal across the world.

Get up close to one of our koalas. Feel their fur, admire its unique features and take your own photos.
Koala close-ups are included as part of the entry fee and occur twice daily between 11am - 12pm and 2pm - 4pm. Bookings are not required.
Hold a koala
Cleland is one of few places in Australia where you can hold a koala.
To help you remember this very special experience, you will be presented with a professional photograph of your time holding the koala. If you would like to share this with family and friends we can provide additional photos at a small additional fee.
Daily sessions run between 2pm - 3.15pm. An additional session is available on Sundays and public holidays between 11am - 11.45am. Bookings are not required however additional fees apply
Private koala sessions
For a more personalised experience, book in a private koala session. Our private sessions allow you and your own group to view and hold a koala during the scheduled time nominated by you (subject to staff and animal availability).
Our private sessions are perfect for corporate groups or special occasions. Bookings are essential.
Packages start at $309 for 1 adult, extra adults are $50 per person and $40 per child (4-15 years) Please note koalas can weigh up to 12kg.

- your own private guide for an hour to answer all your questions

*In order to care for our koala's welfare, the koala experiences will not be held if temperatures are forecast to be over 32 degrees Celsius at Mount Barker. Koala experiences may also be cancelled at anytime due to other animal welfare concerns. Please be aware staff will assess the age and height of children for these experiences for the safety of children.
