When we have a question or are looking for information about plants,
gardening and horticulture its not always obvious where to go for
help. Not all sources are reliable and we often have to make judgements.
So, here are some suggested sources to get you started.
Nurseries and Garden Centres
Many local nurseries and garden centres can be a great help in
providing advice and for referral to other gardening services. Try

Government Departments and Bodies, Local Councils
Although public organisations are not set up to give verbal garden
advice, many produce information material which is relevant and
helpful to gardeners.

to the Internet and for help in finding the information you want.

never been greater.

Look in the Yellow
Pages under headings such as, Florists, Garden, Gardeners, Clubs

Hydroponics, Irrigation, Landscape, Lawn, Nurseries, Nursery, Soil,
Tree, Tree Surgery, Worm Farms.
Gardening events
Events with a gardening theme occur regularly throughout the year
eg. Royal
Adelaide Show, Australian
Plants Society native plant sales and Australia's
Open Garden's Scheme.
Many events are organised through garden
clubs.
Garden clubs and societies
Most South Australian Garden clubs are listed on the Greenfingers
website.
Radio gardening talkback
Gardening Talkback is a very popular form of getting information
and advice to the public. Some radio stations have gardening programs
and some have websites.
Programs on ABC
Local Radio Adelaide and Radio
5AA Michael Keelan's Weekend are worth a listen.
Television gardening programs
There are many programs on gardening and lifestyle such as Gardening
Australia, Burke's
Backyard , Backyard
Blitz and Better
Homes & Gardens.
Magazines
There is a huge range of magazines published on gardening and horticulture,
which can be purchased from newsagents, or accessed through your
local library.
Newspapers
Most newspapers have regular columns and features on gardening.
Gardening education
TAFE conduct
a range of vocational courses in horticulture along with WEA
who conduct some gardening courses.
Search the Internet
There is a vast amount of information on the Internet. The links
