If you’re looking to take your horticultural skills and knowledge to the next level in stunning botanical surrounds, the Certificate III in Horticulture is for you.
Through a collaborative partnership between the Botanic Gardens of South Australia and ARO Educational Services, ACoHE now offers a Certificate III in Horticulture (AHC30716).
This program provides students the chance to learn from industry experts in an engaging, hands-on setting that’s conducive to a rich, in-depth education. You'll gain the skills and qualifications needed to become a general horticultural worker who can operate unsupervised. Job titles arising from the Certificate III include Curator, Horticulturalist or Gardener.
No other place provides students with an opportunity to obtain an education in horticulture amidst some of Australia's of oldest and most visited botanic gardens - Adelaide, Mount Lofty and Wittunga Botanic Gardens. The three-semester course takes place over 18 months, and the total cost of $7,000 is invoiced in three instalments, one per semester.
During the course participants will be taught by industry professionals on how to:
- Propagate and maintain nursery plants
- Sample and test soils
- Identify plant specimens
- Control weeds
- Perform specialist pruning
- Control plant pests, diseases and disorders
In addition you'll attain the following:
- Chainsaw ticket
- ARO SafeChem© Chemical Card
