School Holiday Program

April 2015

The Botanic Gardens of South Australia will run school holiday activities suitable for 5-12 year olds from 13 to 23 April 2015. Activities are designed to promote fun, hands-on learning about plants, people and the environment. To book a place telephone 08 8222 9311.

Gem Trees (7–12yrs) (1.5 hrs) $20

Do you love trees? Are you fascinated by their shapes and patterns? You’ll love making these beautiful gem trees from copper wire and gem stones (for children 7 yrs or over). To be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building - bookings essential.

Pot a Venus Fly Trap (7–12yrs) (1 hr) $20

Venus fly traps are fantastic and fascinating carnivorous plants! We’ll introduce you to Venus Fly Trap plants and you’ll get to plant your own Venus Fly Trap in a Pot to take home!  To be be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building - bookings essential.

Making Fire, Making Glue (1 hr) Free

Learn how Aboriginal people make fire using just what is around them in the Australian bush. Make your own glue from plants! Meet on the Schomburgk Pavilion if it is too hot or raining it will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building, Adelaide Botanic Garden – no bookings required.

Dreaming Story Telling (1 hr) Free

Listen to Aboriginal Dreaming stories and understand what they can teach us about life. Learn how to identify tracks and traces in the environment. Meet at the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building, Adelaide Botanic Garden - no bookings required.
