Without project partners and supporters, many of our conservation
activities would not be possible.
Key Supporters
We appreciate the ongoing support of our key project partners and supporters.

Community volunteers: A number of local community
members donate many hours of their time to a range of biodiversity
conservation activities across our region. Working closely
with our staff, the volunteers grow native plants, undertake
revegetation, monitor threatened plant and animal species,
and report sightings of native wildlife. Their participation
is invaluable to our work.

Envirofund:
An Australian Government program that is the local action
component of the Natural Heritage Trust. It helps communities
undertake local projects aimed at conserving biodiversity
and promoting sustainable resource use. Community groups and
individuals can apply for grants of up to $50 000 (GST inclusive)
to carry out on-ground and other actions to target local problems.
The Envirofund has funded specific on-ground works related
to our biodiversity conservation programs, including fencing
critical threatened species habitat and revegetation.

Eyre
Peninsula Natural Resources Management Board: A regional
board that provides an integrated response to management of
Eyre Peninsula's natural resources including soil, water,
pest plant and animal control, and biodiversity. The board
is developing a comprehensive regional NRM plan under the
Natural
Resources Management Act 2004.

Friends
of Parks Groups: Community based volunteers who work
in partnership with National Parks and Wildlife SA. Friends
groups are dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the
natural and/or cultural heritage in parks and reserves. Our
local friends groups are involved in fox baiting, revegetation,
wildlife surveys, weed control, track maintenance, clean-up
days, reintroduction programs, and brochure and sign production,
both on and off park. Special thanks to:

Green
Corps: An Australian Government youth development
and environmental training program for young people aged between
17 and 20 years. The program provides young people with the
opportunity to volunteer their time and effort to conserve,
preserve and restore Australia's natural environment and cultural
heritage. Past Green Corps teams based in Port Lincoln and
Ceduna have been involved in seed collection, revegetation,
weed and pest animal control, fencing, sand dune rehabilitation,
and monitoring wildlife including threatened plants and animals.

Local land-holders: Many land-holders across Eyre
Peninsula and the Far West have contributed their time and
often land to biodiversity conservation activities including
revegetation, fencing significant habitat, establishing Heritage
Agreements and reporting sightings of native wildlife. Their
participation is invaluable to our work.

|
Natural
Heritage Trust: An Australian Government program set
up in 1997 to help restore and conserve Australia's environment
and natural resources. The trust has provided funding to thousands
of community groups and organisations for environmental and
natural resource management projects.

Nature
Foundation SA: A non-political, non-profit and mainly
voluntary organisation working to conserve and promote our
natural biodiversity. The foundation raises funds for on-the-ground
projects, land conservation, education programs and vital
research. Nature Foundation SA is a long term supporter of
the Eyre Peninsula Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo recovery project
and other local threatened species projects. In 2005 the foundation's
Threatened Species Bushfire Appeal raised significant funds
for conservation activities in the area affected by the Black
Tuesday bushfire.

|
Threatened
Species Network: A partnership between WWF-Australia
and the Australian Government that works with the community
to help stop the declining numbers of our native plants and
animals, particularly those listed as threatened. The network
provides information and advice, links between interested
groups and individuals, and administers a community grants
program. Numerous local projects have been funded through
the network and WWF-Australia including threatened plant activities,
Brush-tailed Bettong recovery, and the Eyre Peninsula Southern
Emu-wren survey and action plan.

Wildlife
Conservation Fund: An annual grant fund through the
South Australian National Parks and Wildlife Council for projects
and research concerned with the conservation of natural biodiversity
within terrestrial, marine and freshwater ecosystems. The fund
has supported specific wildlife conservation projects in our
region, including population and nest monitoring of Eyre Peninsula
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos. |
