Community support for the protection and conservation of natural
environments is essential to the ultimate success of our biodiversity
conservation programs.
We assist land-holders and other interested community members with
biodiversity conservation by providing information and support.
In return we receive valuable assistance including generous volunteer
time, local knowledge about the region's environment, and access
to sites on private land.
Our community engagement program
involves communications and education activities related to biodiversity
conservation and our natural resources.

- baiting foxes
- fencing
- maintaining tracks

Local Volunteers - Saving Our Future
The involvement of volunteers and community groups is invaluable
to our work. In 2005, for example, Friends of Parks members contributed
almost 800 voluntary work days to 62 different projects in our local parks.
See individual biodiversity
conservation programs information for examples of how volunteers
are helping us with conservation in our region.
Green Tips
What we do in our everyday lives - what we eat, where we live,
and what we buy, wear or use - has an impact on biodiversity. Whether
you live on a large rural property, hobby farm or small city block,
you can help protect our environment and biodiversity. The future
of biodiversity depends on each of us making a difference.
There are many ways in which each of us can help protect our natural
environment for future generations. See the following Green Tips:
