Bounceback
Bounceback is a major conservation project aiming to protect and
restore the semi-arid environments of the Flinders, Gawler and Olary
ranges of South Australia. It has evolved into a broadscale recovery
project incorporating specific conservation objectives across reserves,
private land-holdings and pastoral properties.
Bounceback is managed by the Outback
Region of the Department for Environment and Heritage.
See the Bounceback
web page for more information.
Bounceback in the Gawler Ranges
Bounceback in the Gawler Ranges centres on the recently proclaimed
Gawler Ranges
National Park, which includes the former Paney pastoral lease
and parts of Scrubby Peak lease, and the extensive mallee habitat
of Pinkawillinie
Conservation Park. Additional
focus has been placed on areas off-reserve adjacent to the Gawler
Ranges National Park where at-risk populations of the Yellow-footed
Rock-wallaby still occur.
Activities conducted as part of Bounceback
in the Gawler Ranges include managing total grazing pressure, managing
introduced predators and pest plants, protecting significant species,
and monitoring vegetation and habitat condition.
