Landscape Fire Planning

Burnt landscape, shows the devastating effect fire has had at Ngarkat Conservation Park

Fire is regarded as the single most significant natural and human induced risk factor affecting native vegetation and it's ecological health. Bushfires can have devastating effects on the community and on native vegetation communities. Poorly managed native vegetation, from a fire perspective, places serious risk on human life and property as well as the health of ecosystems.

In the Murraylands, fire is a serious issue especially in our large mallee areas such as Ngarkat Conservation Park.

Landscape Fire Management Plans are being developed for the Riverland Biosphere, Ngarkat and Billiatt areas.
