Why volunteer?

Volunteering can make a difference to the whole community and volunteering for DEWNR is a great way to get involved in our natural environment. The many benefits of volunteering include learning new skills, up-skilling for new jobs, work experience, getting outdoors and socialising.

Environmental volunteering, whether in parks, gardens, natural bushland or with our native animals, is great for mind, body and soul.

Anyone can volunteer. We have volunteer activities for every age group, nationality, skill and ability. You can work as an individual or work with a group. You can join a regular group or just participate occasionally. No experience is necessary - just wear clothes that can get dirty!

All of our volunteers are unique and can make a difference - it's a matter of finding that one thing that suits your passions, skills and talents.

South Australia's parks conserve an incredible diversity of living landscapes. Covering more than one fifth of the state, they range from the wild coastal vistas of the Coorong to the red desert sands of the outback. In and around our cities there's also plenty of scope to get involved - we have sanctuaries for native wildlife and lots of built heritage conservation work to do as well.
