Cleland Wildlife Park volunteers

Volunteers at Cleland help staff with park maintenance, koala management and animal management. For a small annual membership fee, our volunteers receive all the training and equipment they need to help us conserve - and present - South Australia's wildlife to local, interstate and international visitors.

Corporate Volunteering

Corporate volunteering is a great opportunity for your company’s staff to get out of the office for a day and into the natural bushland setting of the Mount Lofty Ranges, where they can work together on projects that make a real difference to the community and the environment.

There are many ways that your company can get involved, whether it is by providing the extra hands needed to help with some of our larger projects or through the provision of materials.

Some examples of projects we are currently seeking assistance with are:

  • establishing compost stations in key areas across the park
  • revamping areas of the park, including weed removal, mulching, and tree planting to maintain healthy habitats for animals
  • auditing of nest boxes within the park to support healthy native bird habitats
  • maintaining tree guards in kangaroo enclosures to protect trees from damage.

You can choose to volunteer for a half or full day, and we can match activities to the physical capabilities and interests of your employees.

All volunteers receive free entry on the day, so you may want to finish by exploring the park, meeting the animals you are helping to care for. For an extra fee, you can book a hands-on wildlife talk with one of our enthusiastic educational staff.

We can provide a fully catered morning tea or lunch, or you can bring your own and use our BBQ facilities free of charge (subject to availability).

Work experience

Work experience is offered at Cleland for secondary and tertiary students. Students must complete a set of work experience selection criteria before being approved to do work experience at the park. The work is made up of a four-day program from Monday to Thursday. It covers four business sectors within the wildlife park.
