Prescribed burn on private land at Yundi Swamp

Date posted: 03 October 2017

A prescribed burn is planned on private land at Yundi Swamp approximately 1 km east of Yundi from today, Tuesday, 3 October, 2017, weather conditions permitting.
  • The prescribed burn will start at midday on Tuesday 3 October and should be complete by 4pm on Thursday 5 October.
  • It will affect about 1.2 hectares extending along the edge of Meadows Creek east of Burma Road.
  • Burma Road and Yundi Road may be impacted by smoke.
The burn will be carried out by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources and SA Water as part of the Mt Lofty Ranges Fire Cooperative burn program. Local CFS Brigades will be invited to attend the burn. The crew will remain on site until it is safe to leave.

This ecological burn is proposed to stimulate the regeneration of threatened plant species, most notably the nationally endangered Yundi Guinea-flower.

It is part of a statewide program of prescribed burning planned to protect communities and assets at risk.

Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
