Thank you to our brave volunteers

Protecting our parks from bushfire is an important role for DEWNR fire crew and they have been working around the clock during this weeks' catastrophic fire conditions.

DEWNR crews are also a brigade of the CFS and join forces with other volunteers to fight bushfires across the state - wherever they are needed.

Approximately 300 fires resulted from widespread lightning activity yesterday afternoon and evening, all of which have been contained.

DEWNR crews responded to fires in or near parks at Little Dip, Ngarkat, Fairview, Onkaparinga, Newland Head, Cox Scrub, Warren, Forreston, Bangham, Coorong, Big Heath, Bool Lagoon, Naracoorte Caves and South Para.

DEWNR crews were often the only crews on site and did a great job in containing many of these outbreaks.

Thank you to all of our brave volunteers and fire crew for helping to protect the lives and property of South Australians.
