We Bought a Zoo in Botanic Park

Date Posted: 07 February 2012

Moonlight Cinema is screening the movie We Bought a Zoo in Botanic Park on Wednesday night and everyone is invited – including a rather slippery character.

Cleland Wildlife Park staff will be bringing along a 3m olive python to get up close and personal with members of the audience who are feeling particularly brave.

We Bought a Zoo is the heart-warming story of a man who buys a dilapidated zoo following the death of his wife.

Starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson, the PG-rated film is based on the true story of the Mee family as they battle to get the old zoo ready for a summer opening.

The movie features an olive python just like the one Cleland staff will have on show from the time gates open at 7pm until the movie starts at 8.30pm.

So why not get your family zoo together, pack a picnic dinner to enjoy in Botanic Park as the sun goes down and watch a great movie under the stars?

The screening contributes to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens Foundation, the organisation which raises funds to support Botanic Gardens projects.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 concession, and $14 for seniors and children aged five to 15.
