Mount Brown Conservation Park and Mount Remarkable National Park reopened
Date Posted: 09 January 2012The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has reopened Mount Brown Conservation Park, 16 kilometres east of Stirling North, and Mount Remarkable National Park, 15 kilometres north-east of Port Pirie.
The two parks were closed last week due to the threat of a bushfire that burned around 8400 hectares in the Flinders Ranges near the Heysen Trail and Horrocks Pass.
They were officially reopened at 9am today (January 9) after the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) declared the fire contained yesterday.
The fire no longer poses a risk to either park and both are safe for the pubic to enter.
Local volunteers will continue the mop up operations alongside DENR and CFS fire teams over the next couple of weeks.
